Stanford-Only Sites

Main content start

If some or all of your site content should be available only to the Stanford Community or groups within the Stanford Community, you will need to look beyond the public version of Stanford Sites. The following guide covers some common approaches to creating intranets, helping users navigate between public and private pages, how to use the access control features of Stanford Sites Intranet, and other access control considerations.

Stanford Sites Intranet

Stanford Sites Intranet is a fee-based service for building and managing a website for private, secure information sharing with other campus partners. It offers integration with Stanford systems, and the same tools and support for site authoring as Stanford Sites.

Other options

Stanford Sites Intranet may not be appropriate for all internal site purposes. UIT has other services that may be a better fit for your specific use case.

  • SharePoint. This service has integration with Teams and is approved for protected health information (PHI) or personally identifiable information (PII) with Cardinal Key.
  • Confluence. Confluence is a wiki and supports functionality like commenting and integration with Jira.
  • Google Sites. Google Sites offers great integration with Google Docs and may be a good solution if your content needs to be shared with affiliates who do not have a SUNet ID.
