Drupal 10 coming to Stanford Sites
Stanford Sites, Stanford Sites Intranet, and Jumpstart Engineering sites will be updated from Drupal 9.5 to Drupal 10 on November 2, 2023, as part of our commitment to keep these services performant and secure. Drupal 10 includes improvements to security and removal of unused code. Support for Drupal 9 will end in November 2023.
All websites hosted on the Stanford Sites platform were updated to Drupal 9.5 in July 2023. This laid the groundwork for Drupal 10, including a switch to a new administrative theme, a better authoring experience, and more modern editing tools.
What to Expect
Website owners and editors using Stanford Sites may not notice any changes in Drupal 10. Behind the scenes, Drupal 10 includes an update to PHP 8.1 and Symfony 6, and it removes deprecated code to keep the application running smoothly.
During the after-hours release on November 2, each site will be in maintenance mode briefly while the updates are made. Site owners and editors should remain logged out during that time. Site visitors likely will not notice the update as they view websites because cached pages will continue to display normally.
