News Spotlight Display

The Spotlight display for News is a great way to highlight the impact of the people who make Stanford great. When you select "Spotlight" for a News item, you will have additional fields that are specific the display. The following guide covers how to create and edit a News item with the Spotlight display, as well as links to the guides for creating lists and teasers for Spotlight content.
In the administrative toolbar hover over All Content > Add Content > News.

Under Variant, choose Spotlight

- Add a Headline / Name (this is a required field).
Add Editorial Content (optional).
- Quote / Big Text: Quote / Big Text means a part of the Spotlight that is made to stand out a lot, usually by showing a direct quote or an important phrase in a bigger font or with special emphasis. This method is used to make important ideas noticeable, so readers can easily see them.
- Publishing Date: Include the publishing date. It will also affect how the news article is sorted in lists.
- Body: This is the main content area for a spotlight. Add your spotlight content. You can include images, videos and more.
- External Source: This allows you to send a site visitor to another page to see the full content. To learn more, visit our guide to the External Source field.
- Add Featured Media (optional). The featured media will appear as a thumbnail on the list page and on the teaser card paragraph. Maximum of one featured media item.
- Add Paragraphs (optional).
- Paragraphs are the flexible building blocks you can use to create much of the content on your website. See our guide to using Paragraphs for additional information.
- Add Taxonomy (optional).
- Spotlight Filters: Spotlight filters can be used to create a filterable list of spotlights. See the User Guide: Set Up Filters for the Filtered List Paragraph for additional information.
- Click Save.
