News Article Display

The News content type can be used to create everything from a simple announcement to a media-rich article. It can also be used to link out to an external news source, like Stanford Report. The following guide covers how to create individual news items on your site, using the default display.
In the administrative toolbar hover over All Content > Add Content > News.
- Under Variant, choose News
- Add a Headline / Name (this is a required field).
Add Editorial Content (optional).
- Dek: A brief summary that appears below the headline - in smaller font - on the list page and on the article page. Maximum 500 characters.
- Publishing Date: Include the publishing date. It will also affect how the news article is sorted in lists.
- Byline: The byline gives credit to the author or journalist responsible for the content.
- Body: This is the main content area for a spotlight. Add your spotlight content. You can include images, videos and more.
- External Source: If you have specified an External Source URL, the listing will automatically take the user off the site to the URL you have specified. By adding an external source URL, all teaser and list displays for this person will link to the external source instead of a page on this website. This must be an external URL such as https://example.com. This must be an external URL such as https://example.com.
- Add Featured Media (optional).
- The featured media will appear as a thumbnail on the list page and on the teaser card paragraph. Maximum of one featured media item.
Add Banner (optional).
- Usually displayed full width across the web page. See the User Guide: Image Banner Paragraph and Page Title Banner for additional information.
- Add Paragraphs (optional).
- Paragraphs are the flexible building blocks you can use to create much of the content on your website. See the User Guide: Paragraphs for additional information.
- Add Related Person (optional).
- Related Person: You can link a person to a news article, and that article will automatically appear on the person's profile. Reference a person in the Related Person box by typing in the person's name and selecting their profile.
- Add Taxonomy (optional).
- Taxonomy: Taxonomy terms are tags that can be added to your content to classify them as belonging to one or more categories. See the User Guide: Taxonomy for additional information.
- Click Save.
