Filtered Lists Paragraph

Main content start

The Filtered List Paragraph is designed to allow you to create a filtered list that allow site managers to set up as many filters as needed to help your site visitors find the content they are looking for.  This guide covers what a Filtered List is, and how to place a Filtered List Paragraph on a Basic Page.

What is a Filtered List?

Similar to the Lists Paragraph, the Filtered Lists Paragraph allows you to create a list of your existing site content with interactive features that allow site visitors to filter that list down based on their selected categories.

The Filtered Lists paragraph is made of these parts:

  • Headline. The headline displays as a heading above the filtered list. This is a required field.
  • Description. The description text displays below the headline and above the filtered list. This is an optional field.
  • List Format. This section offers a View list to choose a content type (currently only Opportunities is supported) and Display format. Display options vary based on content type.
  • Advanced options. (Coming Soon!) In general, you will not want to use these settings.
    • Arguments. This takes a term from either each content type's Type and/or Filters vocabulary.  You may combine terms by adding a "+" sign. However, the all filters will display, even if they are not used by that particular subset of your content.
    • Items to display. By default, the filtered list will display up to 39 items with a Load More button. If you wish to make the list shorter, you may control that here by adding a number to display.

Note: While you may add the same Filtered List to multiple pages, each content type only supports one set of filters.

Prepare to create a Filtered List

There are some prerequisites for creating a Filtered List display.

  • You need to set up the categories to be used for filtering. Learn how to set up filters.
  • Your site must contained published content of the type you wish to filter.
  • Your published content must be tagged with the categories used in your filters.

Add a Filtered List on a Basic Page

Filtered Lists are only available on Basic Page. When you select a Filtered List, your page automatically changes to Full Width layout to accommodate the sidebar used for filtering.

  1. Add a one column section on your page.
  2. Add a Filtered Lists paragraph in the Paragraphs field
  3. Add text in the required Headline field
  4. Add in optional intro text in the Description field
  5. In the View field, choose which content type you wish to display
  6. In the Display field, choose which display you wish to use (varies by content type.)
  7. Advanced Options. We do not recommend using these settings, but they may be used to filter the list of displayed content by the Type or Filters vocabularies. You may also control the total number of items displayed.

Best Practices for Filtered Lists

Filtered lists are a powerful tool for organizing and presenting data on a webpage. They allow users to narrow down information based on specific criteria, enhancing user experience and making data analysis more efficient. However, it's important to implement them correctly to avoid confusion and functionality issues.

  • Limit to One Filtered List: Only include one filtered list per page. This prevents filter duplication and ensures that users can easily understand and navigate the data.
  • Enhance Clarity: Clearly label your filters and provide some context for users in the filtered list description. This helps users understand how to interact with the list.

Troubleshooting

I'm trying to use opportunity filters on two different pages, and would like to display only one set of opportunity content on one page, and a different set on another page.

Unfortunately, this feature is currently unavailable. Please refer to the roadmap for further details.
