Throughout this guide, all dimensions are noted in pixels and are width by height.
Common image sizes on Stanford Sites
General
If you wish to add an image at the same size/aspect ratio of your original image, use a Text Area Paragraph to add the image to your page. This option should always be used if your image contains important information.
The Text Area Paragraph will also allow you to choose from several other standard sizes as well as giving options to open an image modal. For more information, visit our guide to working with images and other media.
Page Title Banner and Image Banner
- Aspect ratio: 30:11
- Recommended size: 3000px x 1100px
The height of the Image Banner does adjust at different screensizes, which makes it unsuitable for images that cannot be cropped.
Card images, Media with Caption, and News Featured Media
- Aspect ratio: 2:1
- Recommended size: 2000px x 1000px
Logo
- Recommended size: 150px x 45px
File size limitations
Images should be below 5 Mb.
File types
Stanford Sites takes jpgs, pngs, and gifs.
To improve performance, these images are converted to webp. For best results, ensure the color profile of your image is set to sRGB.
