Person Profile Page

Main content start

With the addition of the Person content type and the dynamic People List page to Stanford Sites, you can now easily present, organize, and categorize a listing of the people in your organization.

Person profiles can be added locally to your website, or can be configured to integrate with your organization’s Stanford Profiles (CAP) using the Person Importer.

Add a Person Profile:

  1. Hover over All Content > Add Content  in the administrative toolbar, and click Person.
  2. Add Name & Titles, Taxonomy, Bio & Content, Contact & Location Information, and Interests & Affiliations as desired.
  3. If you are adding a profile image, use the person's name for the alternative text.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  5. Leave the check box next to “Published” marked to have the Person published, or uncheck to make them unpublished.
  6. Click Save.

Add a person's profile to navigation

The person profile is the only dynamic content allowed in the main menu. You would add a person's profile to the main menu in the same way you would add a Basic page.

Tips

How can I change the name on the people page?

The title People on a dynamic page is set by default and can not be changed. This goes for all dynamic pages (Events, News and Publications). However, you can work around this by creating a basic page with the title you want, and using a list or teaser to display people.

The person edit form provides fields for linking to other profile pages. At Stanford, we have at least two websites that provide people profile information:

It turns out that Profiles provides a more reliable and preferred experience:

  1. The data available on Profiles is the same as what's provided by the CAP importer.
  2. If you have a link to a profile that requires authentication to view and you're not logged in, StanfordWho will display a "page not found, " whereas, Profiles will display a login page.

Profiles provides two views for each person. There's

  1. Publichttps://profiles.stanford.edu/<person's name>
  2. Intranet (requires authentication): https://profiles.stanford.edu/intranet/<person's name>

Unless you can guarantee your audience is internal, you will want to use the public view.
