With Events for Stanford Sites, you have the power to build and present your events with detailed schedule information, including sessions dates/times, headline, description, location, speaker details, and more.

The Event List pages display all upcoming events and upcoming events filtered by event type. These dynamically generated pages can be found by visiting [your site url]/events and [your site url]/events/type respectively.

Using the Event Series functionality, you can organize and display your events into collections/series so that you can easily promote listings of related events to your audiences.

Additionally, you can import events directly from events.stanford.edu using the Event Importer.

Create an event

  1. In the Administrative Toolbar, select Manage (if needed), then hover over All Content > Add Content and click Event.
  2. Add Event Type by clicking the dropdown under Event Type.
  3. Add required Event Title.
  4. Add editorial content, body content, event details, and schedule details as desired.
  5. At the bottom of the page, check the box next to “Published” to have the Event item published, or uncheck to make the item unpublished.
  6. Click Save.

Edit an event

  1. In the Administrative Toolbar, select Manage (if needed), then click on All Content.
  2. In the filter section, click on the arrow under Content type and select Event.
  3. Click Filter to show a list of all Events created using the Event content type.
  4. Find the Event you are trying to edit, and click on the Edit button that appears on the same line as that Event.
  5. Edit Event details as desired.
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.

Bulk edit multiple Events

  1. Click on All Content in the administrative toolbar.
  2. In the filter section, click on the arrow under Content type and select Event.
  3. Click Filter to show a list of all Event items created using the Event content type.
  4. Check the box to the left of the Event title for each of the Event items that you are trying to perform the bulk edit on. 
  5.  Click on the box under the Action section, and select your desired bulk edit action.
  6. Click on Apply to selected items.

Delete an Event

  1. Click on All Content in the administrative toolbar.
  2. In the filter section, click on the arrow under Content type and select Event.
  3. Click Filter to show a list of all Event items.
  4. Find the Event you are trying to delete, and click on the arrow icon next to the Edit button that appears on the same line as that Event.
  5. Click Delete.
  6. A second delete confirmation will appear. To confirm deletion, click Delete.

Publish/Unpublish an Event

Events can be published/unpublished individually on the event edit page, or via the administrative toolbar.

  1. At the bottom of the event edit page, check the box next to “Published” to have the Event item published, or uncheck to make the item unpublished.
  2. Click Save.

  1. Click on All Content in the administrative toolbar.
  2. In the filter section, click on the arrow under Content type and select Event.
  3. Click Filter to show a list of all Event items.
  4. Check the box to the left of the Event title for each of the Event items that you are trying to publish/unpublish.
  5.  Click on the box under the Action section, and select Unpublish selected content or Publish selected content.
  6. Click on Apply to selected items.

Tips

Adding a photo

Suppose you want to include the photo with your event. The Body is where you can include that. The Body of the event is a text area with a WYSIWYG that provides flexibility in what you can display.

  1. In the body field, add the photo with the Insert from media library button
  2. Add your other text
  3. Save

Add a speaker

If you want to add and display a speaker, you can use an event schedule.
