Events
With Events for Stanford Sites, you have the power to build and present your events with detailed schedule information, including sessions dates/times, headline, description, location, speaker details, and more.
The Event List pages display all upcoming events and upcoming events filtered by event type. These dynamically generated pages can be found by visiting [your site url]/events and [your site url]/events/type respectively.
Using the Event Series functionality, you can organize and display your events into collections/series so that you can easily promote listings of related events to your audiences.
Additionally, you can import events directly from events.stanford.edu using the Event Importer.
Create an event
- In the Administrative Toolbar, select Manage (if needed), then hover over All Content > Add Content and click Event.
- Add Event Type by clicking the dropdown under Event Type.
- Add required Event Title.
- Add editorial content, body content, event details, and schedule details as desired.
- At the bottom of the page, check the box next to “Published” to have the Event item published, or uncheck to make the item unpublished.
- Click Save.
Edit an event
- In the Administrative Toolbar, select Manage (if needed), then click on All Content.
- In the filter section, click on the arrow under Content type and select Event.
- Click Filter to show a list of all Events created using the Event content type.
- Find the Event you are trying to edit, and click on the Edit button that appears on the same line as that Event.
- Edit Event details as desired.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
Bulk edit multiple Events
- Click on All Content in the administrative toolbar.
- In the filter section, click on the arrow under Content type and select Event.
- Click Filter to show a list of all Event items created using the Event content type.
- Check the box to the left of the Event title for each of the Event items that you are trying to perform the bulk edit on.
- Click on the box under the Action section, and select your desired bulk edit action.
- Click on Apply to selected items.
Delete an Event
- Click on All Content in the administrative toolbar.
- In the filter section, click on the arrow under Content type and select Event.
- Click Filter to show a list of all Event items.
- Find the Event you are trying to delete, and click on the arrow icon next to the Edit button that appears on the same line as that Event.
- Click Delete.
- A second delete confirmation will appear. To confirm deletion, click Delete.
Publish/Unpublish an Event
Events can be published/unpublished individually on the event edit page, or via the administrative toolbar.

- At the bottom of the event edit page, check the box next to “Published” to have the Event item published, or uncheck to make the item unpublished.
- Click Save.

- Click on All Content in the administrative toolbar.
- In the filter section, click on the arrow under Content type and select Event.
- Click Filter to show a list of all Event items.
- Check the box to the left of the Event title for each of the Event items that you are trying to publish/unpublish.
- Click on the box under the Action section, and select Unpublish selected content or Publish selected content.
- Click on Apply to selected items.
Tips
Adding a photo
Suppose you want to include the photo with your event. The Body is where you can include that. The Body of the event is a text area with a WYSIWYG that provides flexibility in what you can display.
- In the body field, add the photo with the Insert from media library button
- Add your other text
- Save
Add a speaker
If you want to add and display a speaker, you can use an event schedule.
