Help make Stanford Sites even better
Main content start
Need a new feature to extend your current site on Stanford Sites or to allow you to move to Stanford Sites? Contribution to an enhancement on Stanford Sites has many benefits over a custom development project.
Benefits
Contributing to Stanford’s central web platform has many benefits.
- No ongoing costs. The Stanford Sites team will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, accessibility and security review for this feature. Your site(s) will continue to benefit from free hosting, maintenance, and support.
- Documentation and support. The Stanford Sites team will maintain documentation and provide ongoing support for this feature. This means that if your web editing staff changes, you will be able to rely on central services for support.
What can be sponsored?
Work sponsored on Stanford Sites must meet the following criteria:
- Design. Design must be aligned with the existing themes on Stanford Sites.
- Usable. The feature must be in alignment with best practices for user experience. The feature must be content agnostic, usable by a variety of sites on Stanford Sites.
- Compliant. The feature must meet the university’s branding, security, accessibility, and privacy policies.
- Maintainable. The maintenance burden must be within the capacity of the Stanford Sites team.
Timeline
When you sponsor a project on Stanford Sites, we will give you a tentative release date for the feature. Release priorities may change based on security, legal or other requirements. We advise against planning editorial work or site launches on the Stanford Sites release schedule or roadmap.
